Day 1 - Roger Hall Memorial Veteran Build

Veterans Building for Veterans

It was cool and rain was misting early on this morning of March 25th, 2021. Today was the beginning of the build phase for the two family veteran home dedicated to the memory of Roger Hall, former Core Build Member and one of the longest serving Volunteers in Greater Nashua Habitat's history since this affiliates establishment in 1994. Excavation on this property began close to a year ago and the foundation was poured last fall. The consequences of Covid-19 halted progress and the actual building of this home since Volunteer and build restrictions were placed by Habitat for Humanity International since last March.

The rain did not dampen the excitement of everyone on the build site today and it was a great first day of building with the expertise of our Core Build Crew led by Project Manager, Dave Phelps. The first boards have been cut and building this home has officially begun! Family Partner and future homeowner, Claudia was onsite and got right into building with the guidance of our Build Crew. It could be some time before we can let volunteers join us on this build but we hope you will keep us with our journey of building the Roger Hall Memorial Veteran Build and sign up for our newsletter or follow us on facebook, instagram, twitter or youtube to keep updated and learn when you are able to sign up! Thank you for reading about our first day and we will be back to post the newest build news very soon!

If you look at the pictures below you will notice a train in the last image. A train did indeed pass by us in the back of the property today and blew the whistle! Day one of building is now in the books.
