No, not at all!

Previous experience never hurts, but it isn’t necessary. Our experienced construction crew will provide all of the on-the-job training needed for the day’s tasks.

Unless you hear otherwise from our Volunteer Coordinator, via email (by 7:00 a.m. the day of your scheduled shift), plan to volunteer rain or shine.

Our construction crew can often adjust tasks to accommodate for inclement weather.

Volunteers construct the majority of our homes. You make it happen! Of course we leave the big stuff such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical to the professionals, but the rest we leave to you, our volunteers. You might be framing, roofing, siding, hanging drywall, painting, insulating, doing finish work, or landscaping.

We provide all necessary tools and safety equipment. If preferred, you may bring your own. Please label all personal tools with your name. But, please, NO power tools.

Although not mandatory, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves, if available.

Bottled water is provided on-site, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own filled, reusable water bottles to reduce waste and ensure proper hydration. We also provide snacks, such as granola bars, in case volunteers need energy during the build shift. You are welcome to bring your own snacks, especially if you are coming as a group.

Absolutely! If you are over 18+ years and are not serving hours for theft or a sexual offense, you may work doing landscaping and general maintenance. Hours are available Tuesday Saturday from 10-6.

Are you a contractor, tradesperson, or subcontractor and need to do community service? We might be able to use your skills at one of our build sites, depending on current projects.

We ask all volunteers to complete an online registration form and waiver.

Volunteers under the age of 18 must complete a paper waiver form that includes a parent/guardian signature.

All court-ordered community service must be approved by GNHFH before service can begin. Please contact our volunteer services department at 603-883-0295 prior to signing up for a volunteer shift.

YES!! Volunteers are also needed to help out in the office, events and other activities as well as one of our committees.  Check out the non-construction volunteer opportunities here.

Building homes requires help with different areas of construction. We depend on volunteers to work on every phase of home building from start to finish, from complex building tasks like carpentry and roofing, to simple tasks like carrying supplies and cleanup.

Maybe you’ve never held a hammer… have a little weekend project experience… or maybe you’re a highly skilled trades professional… We need and welcome your help no matter what level of skill.

Unskilled volunteers are guided by construction managers and instructed by construction crew leaders or other skilled volunteers. Skilled volunteers are also always appreciated for the talents they share to make sure that our affordable homes meet quality standards.

Land / Real Estate Donations

Finding affordable land to build on is one of our greatest challenges. By making a charitable donation of land, you will help us by eliminating what is often one of the most expensive aspects of building a home. This will allow us to build more homes for deserving families.

Donated real estate may also be deducted as a charitable contribution. Please consult with your tax accountant to determine what tax benefits may be available.

Another option is to sell a building site to Habitat at a reduced price. A charitable contribution deduction may also be available in this situation, so please check with your accountant.
